Chapati is a flat round bread that is common in india and east africa. Itis mainly served with meat stew.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 400g of wheat flour
  • salt to taste
  • vegetable oil
  • 250ml of luke warm water
  1. Step 1

Put the flour in a large mixing bowl, add salt and mix. Add oil snd mix and gradually add water while mixing. Mix until soft. Knead the dough until it is smooth and no longer sticky. Cover and set aside for 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Divide the dough into small balls of equal size. Place the balls on a flat cleaned surface. Use a wooden roller to flatten the dough into small round flat bread (looks like soft tortillas). Dust the bread with flour to prevent it from sticking to the hard surface as you roll it.

  3. Step 3

Preheat a fying pan and place the chapati on and cook it until it looks golden brown on both sides. Add small amounts of oil to fry the chapati so as to achieve the golden brown color.Use a fish slice or a spoon to turn the chapati. Once it is brown color on both sides, remove it from the heat place it on a foil. Repeat the process to make chapatis from all the balls you rolled

Tips & Warnings
  • To serve the chapatis, cook meat stew or tea and serve hot.
  • To place the chapatis in a freezer, allow them to first cool
  • Once the pan is heated, adjust the heat to prevent excess heat from burning the chapatis
