Make a Beanbag
Make a Beanbag
abcdz2000, Erik Hersman, Bradley Johnson

Beanbags are a fun toy for any age children. They can be used for tag, beanbag toss or even to teach children to add or subtract. Make a beanbag or two with your children and let the fun begin!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fabric
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Ruler
  • Thread
  • Sewing needle
  • Dried beans or beads
  1. Step 1

On the back of the fabric, draw two equal size squares using a ruler to create straight lines. They can be any size but smaller squares are easier to toss. Cut out the squares.

  2. Step 2

Sew the squares together by hand or with a sewing machine. Make sure the back of the fabric is on the outside. Leave a small 2 inch opening on one side of the square.

  3. Step 3

Flip the bag inside out so the front of the fabric is on the outside.

  4. Step 4

Fill the bag with the dried beans or the beads. Don't overfill it or you won't be able to sew it shut.

  5. Step 5

Sew the opening shut. You now have a fun toy that you and your children will enjoy for a long time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use old clothing as fabric for beanbags.
  • You can use the same technique to make beanbag chairs. Just cut a larger square.
  • If you can't or don't want to sew, use fabric glue.
  • Children can choke on the beans so always check the bags for leaks.
