Things You'll Need:
- Scale
- 4 Pound Pouring Pot
- 1 Pound Soy Flakes
- 16oz Mason Jar
- 105 HTP Cotton Wick
- 1oz Fragrance Oil
- 1 Color Chip
- Wick Trimmer or a Small Pair of Diagonal Cutters
- Craft Popsicle Stick w/edges cut into on both sides of stick(find in Yankee dollar stores)
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Metal Spoon
- Scoop or Big Cup
- Soy Candle Warning Label
- Round Brown Craft Label
-
Step 1
Place your pouring pot on the scale. Turn on the scale. Scoop one pound of soy wax into the pouring pot.
-
Step 2
Place your pouring pot on a stove burner. Heat on low or #2, depending on the type of stove you are using. Once soy wax has melted (about 15 minutes), shut off the burner and remove your pouring pot from the burner.
-
Step 3
Once soy wax has melted, add one color chip of desired color to the soy wax. Let sit in soy wax for one minute and then stir until dissolved.
-
Step 4
While your soy wax is cooling down, get your mason jar ready. Glue your wick to the bottom of the jar. Make sure you center the wick. Place popsicle stick on top of jar and press wick into edge of the popsicle stick. Make sure that the wick is centered at the top of the jar.
-
Step 5
Once your soy wax has cooled down (about 45 minutes, pouring pot will be luke warm and soy wax will look like a smooth and creamy raspberry yogurt), Pour one oz of your desired scent(fragrance oil) into soy wax and stir for two minutes. Then pour the soy wax into the jar.
-
Step 6
Let your candle cool for 24 hours. Once candle has cooled for 24 hours, remove the popsicle stick. Trim wick to about 1/2 inch. Place the warning label on the bottom of the jar. Place the lid on the jar. Put your name of the scent on the white label and place it on the side of the jar. Your candle is now finished.
-
Step 7
It is now clean up time. Heat pouring pot over burner again to heat the left over wax that is in the pouring pot. Pour left over wax into an empty jar. Do not pour down your sink drain. Wipe your pouring pot out with paper towels. Wipe all the wax out before washing your pouring pot. Wash your pouring pot out in hot water and dish liquid.
