Things You'll Need:
- Store bought Cake Mix of your choice
- Rubber Duck(s)
- Blue Food Coloring
- 13 by 9 cake pan
- Icing or Frosting
- Green Food Coloring
-
Step 1
Prepare the store bought cake mix as directed on the cake mix box.
Bake as directed on the cake mix box in a 13 by 9 cake pan.
Let the cake cool on the counter, them place covered in the freezer overnight. Freezing the cake will make frosting the cake easier and less chance of the cake fallen off during frosting. -
Step 2
While waiting for the cake to freeze. Ruffly draw out an idea of how you want the cake to be set up.
A simple design is to make the cake all blue, to resemble water with mixing different shade of blue. Mix up one shade of blue by add about 4 or 5 drop of blue food coloring to white icing. Frost the cake with the blue icing. Then add a two more drops of blue food coloring to the blue frosting. Keep track of how many drops encase you need to start over with white frosting. Take the darker blue frosting with a tooth pick and run lines through the light blue frosting. This will make the blue look more like water. If desired add a few more drops and add an ever darker shade of blue to complete the water look. -
Step 3
After frosting the cake with the mix of blue icing. Place the rubber ducky on the middle of the cake.
Mix left over icing and Green food coloring to make the cakes edge and any writing on the cake. You can add green food coloring to left over blue icing.
Place the green icing into the icing bag with the desire tip. Use the icing bag to cover the edges of the cake and add the desire writing you would like have.
