To make your own deodorant at home, use a bacteria fighting ingredient, a few ingredients to produce a pleasant fragrance and a natural ingredient that will bind everything else together and harden once cooled. To make a deodorant stick just as efficient as a store-bought stick, melt the ingredients together, stir well, pour them into a convenient container and cool in the refrigerator. Things You'll Need

  • Sauce pan
  • Glass bowl
  • 2 tbsp. Shea butter
  • 3 tbsp. coconut oil
  • 3 tbsp. baking soda
  • Essential oil (optional)
  • Empty deodorant stick or glass jar

      Fill the sauce pan with water and put it on high heat. Place a glass bowl over the pan to begin a double boil.

      Melt the Shea butter and coconut oil in the glass bowl. Take the Shea butter and coconut oil off the heat when the edges have turned completely liquid and you can stir the two together easily.

      Add baking soda. Mix well.

      Add essential oils for fragrance. Put in 3 drops to 4 drops of oil and assess how strong the scent is after stirring in the oil. Add more if needed.

      Pour the mixture into an old deodorant stick, a new, empty deodorant container or small glass jar. Put the deodorant in the refrigerator until completely hardened. Apply as needed.
