1
Choose at least two medium to large size buttons with holes. For this design, shank buttons are not used, but they can be with some modification. Select a few small accent beads.
-
2
Select two headpins and two ear wires. Use the matching metal or for a fun look, mix it up. Among options are silver, gold, copper and gunmetal.

3
Thread one accent bead onto a headpin. The head on a headpin is fairly small and if you string the button on first, the button will likely slip right through. The accent bead has a smaller hole and acts as a stop bead so the button will stay put. Bend the headpin or leave it straight.

4
Thread on the button then add three more accent beads. Be creative and come up with your own design when you make earrings out of buttons.

5
Use the flat nose pliers near the top bead to bend the headpin.
-
6
Use the round nose pliers to make a loop next to the beads. Wrap the headpin wire around one side of the round nose pliers. To do this, grasp the end of the headpin with the flat nose pliers and wrap it gently around the round portion to form a loop. Remove the round nose pliers from the headpin. Trim the excess wire leaving the loop at the top of the headpin.

7
Open the small loop on the bottom of the ear wire. Move the metal using the flat nose pliers from front to back. Slip the loop of the headpin onto the open ear wire loop. Place the loop inside the flat nose pliers so the flat portion of the pliers is on top and bottom of the loop. Close the open loop by gently squeezing the pliers shut.
-
8
Repeat to make the second earring.
