Keep a Clean Makeup Kit
Keep a Clean Makeup Kit

As a Makeup Artist is so important to keep all products and cases in your kit clean and ready to use on the next client. I am proud to say that my makeup kit is ultra clean these days with the help of some new products and ideas.

It is our responsibility as Makeup Artists to use sanitary practices for the safety of our clients. Bacteria can grow so easily in makeup, so here are some tips on how to prevent from that!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Q Tips
  • Spatulas
  • Sponges
  • Beauty So Clean Products
  • Makeup Wipes
  • Disposable Mascara Wands
  1. Step 1

I like to begin by making sure that all of my cases are clean. This means cases that hold the individual makeup as well as the case that carries all of our makeup. I use either 70% Isopropyl Alcohol or Beauty So Clean Spray Sanitizer. Wipe down all cases at least weekly.

  2. Step 2

It is so important to not spread bacteria in your cosmetics by using fingers, dirty brushes, etc. Instead spray Beauty So Clean Sanitizing Spray on powders and creams then use a disposable spatula to get the amount of cream necessary.

For mascara always use a disposable wand and just once. No double dipping!

A lip gloss can be used with a disposable wand dipped once or the wand can be rolled on the back of a clean hand to distribute with a clean lip brush.

  3. Step 3

Brushes should be cleaned between each client and deep cleaned at the end of a work day.

Between clients use a brush cleaner. I use either MAC or Beauty So Clean brush cleaners.

Simply pour or spray a little onto a tissue then wipe the brush gently to remove product, dirt and bacteria.

To deep clean, use luke warm water and a hefty squirt of brush cleanser or baby shampoo, swish, rinse, squeeze and then lay flat to dry.

  4. Step 4

Make sure to always clean your hands by using a hand sanitizer or use a nearby sink. Keep it clean!
