Promotional pens are a great branding opportunity for your company. They are an extremely easy way to keep your business in the front of people's minds, and you can leave them anywhere you like. Pens are always needed so the opportunities are endless. This how-to will go over the basic steps to get your pens made and how to promote your business with them. There are many places to distribute your pens, but keep in mind that each one costs money-so make the most out of each location they end up.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Design your pen. Keep the wording on your pens brief so the impact will be maximized. If you are a web-based business your brand's name, URL, and slogan would be perfect on a promotional pen. If you are a brick-and-mortar shop add your street address and telephone number to the pen. Find colors that represent your brand. If your website is predominantly blue and white, there is no sense in making your pens green. Make everything jive to create a strong brand.

  2. Step 2

Find a place to make the promotional pens. Usually local sign shops are great resources for making your pens. If you like one-on-one customer service this is the way to go. For the best rates, go online. The pens will be much cheaper, but factor shipping into the price.

  3. Step 3

Market your pens. Promotional pens have a lot of power to spread the word of your business. Some good places to leave them are banks, libraries, and coffee shops. Any time you see a cup with pens that is available for people to sign their credit card receipts, drop some off. One tactic that has worked great for me is to give them to servers at local restaurants. They will leave them with the bill for the customers that they serve.

  4. Step 4

Have them with you at all times. Treat them like your business cards and always have some on you. Any time that someone asks to borrow a pen is a perfect marketing opportunity.
