A Mosaic backsplash is nice behind the sink on the kitchen wall. It is decorative and catches the water spray from the faucet. It can be put behind the stove on the wall over the stove to catch grease or food.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • mosaic tiles
  • design
  • tile cutter
  • tile grout
  • towel
  • sandpaper
  1. Step 1

Decide how you want the tiles to be placed on the wall by using a large piece of paper and planning a design out with a pencil. You may pick two colors when you buy the tiles and make like a checkerboard design. To go more creative use a more compliced design such as crosses. Some tiles you buy already have designs on them.

  2. Step 2

Measure the area to be tiled. Decide how many tiles you will need by the size of the tiles and the measurements. You should have a few extra just in case you need them.

  3. Step 3

Mark the middle of the wall where you will be starting with a pencil. If the tiles don't fit perfectly you made have to cut them a little with the tile cutters. Mark the tiles before cutting with a cutting line.

  4. Step 4

Put some grout on the wall and start tiling from the center. Go across the wall from middle to bottom then go to the middle to the top. Fill in the seams with grout and smooth out with a towel. Sand the seams if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful to line up tiles evenly
  • Be sure to use enough grout
  • Wear gloves
  • Be careful with the tile cutter tool
