You either have a baby on the way, or it is time to move your baby from the bassinet to a crib. You may have purchased a baby-safe second-hand unit or have the crib a family member used. When you start the assembly process, you find there are crucial parts missing, which will keep you from finishing the construction. If a brand new crib isn't in your budget, it is possible to purchase replacement crib parts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Crib parts
  • Related tools
  1. Step 1

Look for the name of the manufacturer on the crib or its parts. There should be an envelope with the model and serial numbers on it, which is permanently attached to the mattress support of the crib.

  2. Step 2

Search for the company online once the manufacturer, model and serial numbers are found. Look for a customer service phone number or the email address of the company.

  3. Step 3

Phone or email the manufacturer's customer service department, and ask if the company has a replacement kit, a parts catalog or online sales source.

  4. Step 4

Look through the company's replacement part catalog. If you are unsure of a particular crib part that may be missing, the product photos can be helpful with the identification of all of the parts. It is crucial to the baby's safety that you use parts made for the particular model of crib that you have.

  5. Step 5

Order the parts or a replacement kit that is needed for the crib to be assembled.

  6. Step 6

Check each part when the package arrives. Assemble the crib.

Tips & Warnings
  • When packing up a crib, be sure to put all small assembly parts and the original product information envelope with serial number into a plastic bag. Tape the bag to the underside of the crib with heavy-duty packing or duct tape.
  • Only use those parts that are provided by the manufacturer of your specific crib. Doing otherwise could jeopardize your child's safety or life itself. Never "jerry-rig" a crib using parts that belong to other products. If there is any hesitation about assembly of a crib or use of its parts, do not use the crib.
