Medium-length hair commonly is worn in a sleek yet movable style. Because the hairstyle is sleek, it is appropriate for work, hanging out with friends or a night out on the town. This style can be obtained with simple techniques and the right hair products and tools. Once you get used to styling medium-length hair, you might never grow your hair long again.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hair dryer with a nozzle
  • Hair straightening lotion
  • Hair smoothing serum
  • Paddle hair brush
  • Flat iron
  1. Step 1

Shampoo and condition hair as usual.

  2. Step 2

Squeeze a quarter-sized amount of hair straightening lotion into the palm of your hand.

  3. Step 3

Rub your hands together to evenly distribute the lotion in your hands.

  4. Step 4

Work your hands through your hair, coating each strand with the product. Use a mild product so you are able to apply it from root to tip without worrying about the hair being too stiff.

  5. Step 5

Turn your hair dryer on to high heat.

  6. Step 6

Brush your hair around the shape of your head, directing the hair dryer nozzle directly behind the brush.

  7. Step 7

Continue to direct your hair in different ways around your head to dry it with the hair dryer. You should go back to front and side to side when drying your hair this way. Doing this will smooth your hair while allowing it to still have volume and bounce. When doing this, be sure to keep your hair flat to your scalp to avoid frizzy hair.

  8. Step 8

Turn off the hair dryer after your hair is entirely dry.

  9. Step 9

Turn on your flat iron to medium to high heat. The heat will depend on the texture of your hair. If your hair is fine, keep it closer to medium. Those with thick hair should set the flat iron to a high heat setting.

  10. Step 10

Squeeze 2 drops of hair smoothing serum into the palm of your hand.

  11. Step 11

Rub your hands together to ensure that both hands have an even amount of serum.

  12. Step 12

Smooth the product over the ends of your hair.

  13. Step 13

Smooth the flat iron over the ends of your hair to create a sleek finish. At this time, you might choose to add a slight flip or curl with the flat iron, depending on the final look you are trying to achieve.
