1
Choose a color scheme for the invitation. Have the colors match the party's theme. If, for example, it is a Hollywood-themed birthday party, select neutral colors that will not distract from the photos of celebrities.
-
2
Open greeting-card software such as Hallmark Card Studio. If you are familiar with the Adobe publishing series, use InDesign to create your invitation.
-
-
3
Select a greeting-card template from your greeting-card software. Choose a size that is offered by the software rather than creating your own. Popular sizes such as A7 or A9 are easy to find when you shop for card stock to print your invitations.
-
4
Add graphics to your design. Graphics should match your party's theme. For instancee, if it will be a race-car party, use a race-car graphic on the front and inside of the card. Do not overdo the graphics; you do not want to distract the guest from the important details.
-
5
Choose a font that matches the theme. Teen party invitations should use fun, carefree fonts to appeal to teenage guests. If you do not have suitable fonts, download free fonts from a website such as DaFont.com.
-
6
Type a greeting such as "You're Invited" or "Come to My Party" on the front of the card. Create the text with your selected font and colors. Depending on the placement of the graphics, adjust text size to fit on the card.
-
7
Type the party details. Include the date, time, location and RSVP information. Type these details in a simple, clean font such as Arial or Times New Roman instead of highly decorative fonts. This enhances legibility; use colors to express your creativity.
-
8
Purchase card stock that is suitable for the design. You can find a wide selection of card-stock paper at stationery stores. Select stock that matches your theme and color scheme. You can also select the texture of the paper.
-
9
Print a sample on plain printing paper before printing on nice card stock. This way you won't waste expensive paper. Moreover, you can see how colors look when they are printed. You may decide to change parts of the card once you see it printed.
-
10
Print the invitation on card stock. Set your printer settings to print card stock, instead of plain printer paper. Choose "high quality" color settings instead of "gray scale printing."
