Kids playing pirate definitely need an authentic-looking pirate eyepatch, whether they're involved in a simple dress-up game or are creating a pirate costume for Halloween, a party or a play. Make a simple eyepatch out of craft foam, decorate it with a skull and crossbones if desired, and slip it over one eye to become a real pirate.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black craft foam
  • Scissors
  • White puffy craft paint
  • Narrow elastic
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  1. Step 1

Trace the pattern provided onto a piece of black craft foam and cut out the eyepatch. Use scissors to make small slits on each side at the top of the patch as shown.

  2. Step 2

Use the puffy white craft paint to draw a skull and crossbones on the center of the eye patch if desired. Allow the paint to dry completely before proceeding.

  3. Step 3

Place the narrow elastic around the head to measure the proper length. Add 2 inches and cut the elastic to this length.

  4. Step 4

Tie one end of the elastic to the slit on one side of the eyepatch, and tie the other end of the elastic to the other slit.

  5. Step 5

Slip the eyepatch over the head and center it on one eye.
