Create a Website Folder for Front Page

Microsoft's FrontPage software combines web publishing with HTML editing features in a way that makes it easy to use for the average computer user. One of the most basic tasks in using FrontPage to create a web page is to create a web site folder. This is a job that is easily done by following a simple sequence of steps.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open FrontPage and then select "File" from the menu options at the top of the screen. Click on "New", and a taskbar pane will open on the right side of the window.

  2. Step 2

Click on the type of web page you wish to create from the list of options in the taskbar pane. A new blank page will open.

  3. Step 3

Go back and click on "File" at the top of the main FrontPage window. From the drop-down menu that appears, click "Save As".

  4. Step 4

Click on the backwards-facing arrow at the top of the Save As window to exit the current website folder. Then click on the "New Folder" icon. Name the folder by typing a name of your choosing in the text box that will pop up as part of the New Folder window. Click "OK".

  5. Step 5

Type in a file name for the web page that you just began, and click "OK". You are finished, and have just created a new website folder in FrontPage.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be surprised when you see that two additional folders have been created as a result of this process. FrontPage creates and stores graphics in an "images" folder and uses the "_private" folder for file management.
