How to Use Napkin Rings
Napkin rings add an elegant touch to dinner parties and conserve space on a crowded table. While napkin rings are used mostly for decoration today--including to add a nice touch on holidays--in the past, each family member had an individual napkin ring. Lay clean (cloth) napkin flat on a clean surface.

Pick up the center of the napkin with two fingers, pull together, and stuff the point through a napkin ring. This is a simple and classic way to use a napkin ring.

Alternatively, starting on one edge, fold the napkin like an accordion until you reach the other side.

Fold the napkin in half top to bottom and stuff the center crease inside the napkin ring. The folds should naturally fan out for an elegant touch.

Lay the napkin fan across the plate.

Tips & Warnings
Guests should remove the napkin from ring and place the empty napkin ring to the upper left of their place setting. For best results, iron napkin well before use.
