Finding a doctor when you don't have health insurance does not have to be difficult. There are going to be times when you are sick and need to go to the doctor. If you don't have health insurance, you might think that doctors will not see you, but luckily this is not the case.

Finding Doctors When You Don't Have Health Insurance

1. Contact your local health department or clinic and ask if it takes patients without health insurance. Some clinics offer sliding fee scales for patients without health insurance based on income. This way you will only have to pay either a fraction of the normal doctor visit cost or a payment plan can be arranged.

2. Contact your local U. S. Department of Health and Human Services to see if you qualify to receive healthcare assistance through Medicaid or Medicare programs. You have to meet certain income and age guidelines to qualify for these programs.

3. Contact your local hospital and ask for its social services or financial assistance department. Some hospitals have departments that work with individuals who don't have insurance or aren't able to pay for healthcare to help them get to see a doctor. Simply explain your situation to the hospital to see if they can help you out.
