How to Install Benen Tow Hooks

A Benen Tow Hook is an elongated metal component comprised of two ends--a towing end and a mounting end. Typically, the mounting end has a front mount and a rear mount. There are slots in each one of them that extend opposite of the direction in which the vehicle would be towed. These hooks are usually installed on the front of your vehicle.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the front bumper of your vehicle. There are typically several mounting screws that hold the bumper in place. Unscrew those to remove.

    • 2

Locate the intended mounting area on the frame of the vehicle. Some vehicles are not equipped with optional tow hook mounting brackets or holes, so you will have to drill your own.

    • 3

Place the mounting end of the tow hook against the bumper beam of your vehicle and mark the holes with chalk if you don't already have mounting holes. Drill the holes for your Benen tow hook.

    • 4

Place the mounting end of the tow hook up to the bumper beam and align the tow hook mounting holes. Place a bolt through each hole and secure it with the accompanying nut. Tighten the nut/bolt down.

    • 5

      Reinstall your bumper.
