How to Make a Memo Board
Memo boards are a great place to store pictures, shopping lists or other reminders for when life gets hectic. They can be as simple as a large photo frame backing painted with chalkboard paint if you want to write notes to yourself, or as basic as a place to keep sticky notes. However, a French memo board is great for sticking notes or pinning phone numbers and reminders on. Making a fabric-covered French memo board is an easy task and can be done in minutes.

1
Lay your artist canvas flat and spray liberally with adhesive. Press quilt batting over the top of the adhesive.
-
2
Spray the batting with adhesive and lay the fabric over the top of the batting with the wrong side facing the adhesive and the patterned side facing out. Turn the board over so the fabric is on the bottom, flat against the work surface.

3
Fold one side of the fabric over the edge of the canvas and staple down the fabric to secure it to the back of the board. Repeat for the other three sides, folding the corners in carefully to keep the back from looking messy. Turn your board back over.
-
4
Lay the edge of your ribbon diagonally across the bottom left corner of the board, leaving 3 inches to overlap to the back and pin. Cut the bottom of the ribbon, leaving 3 inches to overlap to the back. Repeat three more times, working up the board at even intervals, so you have four diagonal lengths of ribbon across your board. Flip the board over and staple the ribbon to the back of the board.
-
5
Flip the board back over and repeat Step 4, laying a strip of ribbon across the top left of the board and working down. When layering the ribbon, weave it in and out of the secured ribbon, alternating the ribbon intersections one on top then underneath. Flip and staple the ribbon ends securely.
-
6
Glue a button at each intersection of the ribbon.
-
7
Flip the board over and staple a length of ribbon across the back for hanging.

Tips & Warnings
Use a small amount of hot glue for each button so "strings" of the hot glue do not show through the button holes.
Be sure to remove the pins once you have secured the ribbon to the board at the back.
