Things You'll Need:
- Some kind of paper
- Writing utensils
- Recipe
-
Step 1
Decide on what to write or type the recipe on: index cards, stationary, notebook paper, printer paper, etc. Whatever you decide on, stick to it.
-
Step 2
Now, you can start to make a recipe card file, by Writing the title of the recipe and anything else you think is important at the top, like the fact that you got if from your grandma. Make sure you can tell what the recipe is from the title. Don't name it something like "Supper Awesome Cake".
-
Step 3
Ingredients in list formatWrite down the ingredients, in a list format (like in the picture to the left), carefully on the recipe card file. You do not want to put down 1 Tb baking soda instead of 1 tsp baking soda. Also, make sure you understand your abbreviations. Personally, I use C-cup, T-tablespoon, t-teaspoon, and put nothing down for a dash. Whatever abbreviations you use, stick to it.
-
Step 4
Recipe Steps on Index CardStart with step one of the recipe after the ingredients list. If you make a recipe card file with a small index card, you should start the first step after the ingredients and then when you run out of the room, go to the right of the ingredients list (see picture to left). However, if you make a recipe card file on 8 1/2 by 11 printer paper, then all the steps of the recipe can be go after the ingredients list.
-
Step 5
You may add a photo or draw a picture of the final recipe to finish your recipe card file. Otherwise, you're now done!
