Misplace your corkscrew or never had one to begin with? Did a dinner guest bring along a nice bottle of wine, but you don't have anything to open it with? Don't fret, there's hope, with a few odds and ends from the tool box or junk drawer. Then add in some other items from around the house and a little patience. It is possible to open a wine bottle without an actual opener.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Screw
  • Pliers
  • Cloth
  • Hot Water
  • Screw Driver
  1. Step 1

Take a screw driver and drive a screw into the middle part of the cork. You will want to use a fairly long screw, if available.

  2. Step 2

Drive it down enough that all of the cork will come out, but leave enough room on top for a firm grip. Don't want the cork breaking off!

  3. Step 3

Wet a cloth with really hot water and apply it to the neck of the bottle. Hold it in place by a clothes spindle or safety pin, if it is hot to touch.

  4. Step 4

Use a pair of pliers, if available to pull the cork out. Some people will be able to remove the screw without the use of pliers, by using their hand.
