Step 1
Choose the right nipple for your baby. There is a difference and most babies will have a preference. Make sure the hole is large enough for the baby to get enough milk or formula bot not so large that it flows too fast. Most nipples are labeled with suggested age ranges.

Use a bottle brush if cleaning baby bottles by hand. Clean the bottle nipples by squeezing water through the holes. You can also clean the bottles by putting them in the top rack of your dishwasher.

Sterilize the bottles. Place clean bottles, nipples and other components into a pot filled with water. Bring the water to a boil and let it continue to boil for 5 minutes. Let it sit until the bottles are cool enough to handle. Let air dry on a clean towel.

Step 4
Prepare baby formula by following the manufacturer's instructions on the label. Be sure to wash your hands before handling the sterile bottles and preparing the formula.
