Kahlua is an incredibly versatile cocktail mixer. Entire books have been authored to showcase recipe after recipe using Kahlua. Simply adding 1/3 Kahlua to 2/3 milk creates a fabulous alcoholic drink that is both mild and sweet. Now you can make your own at home and save money. Homemade Kahlua also makes a wonderful gift for friends and loved ones.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 1/4 cup water
  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup instant coffee
  • 7 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
  • 1/5 100 proof vodka
  • Pan
  1. Step 1

Place your water, sugar, instant coffee and extract into a pan and stir.

  2. Step 2

Warm mixture on low heat until the sugar is melted. Slowly bring this coffee mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.

  3. Step 3

Turn pan off and allow to cool. This may take an hour or so depending on the temperature in your home. You need for this to become completely cool before proceeding to the next step.

  4. Step 4

Add the 100 proof vodka to the cooled mixture and stir thoroughly.

  5. Step 5

Store in a glass bottle. It's great if you can get your hands on an empty bottle of Kahlua. Makes a great opportunity to recycle. Ask your friends to save these for you. Some bars may even let you have them if you ask.

  6. Step 6

You may mix your drinks immediately if you like.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not allow anyone under 21 to drink your Kahlua.
