Instructions

    • 1

Buy plain cookies that have interesting shapes. Half-moons, stars and thin cookies look great when they are dipped. Sandwich cookies are also tasty when they're dipped in chocolate.

    • 2

Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. You can put wax paper on some plates or another type of tray as well. Whatever you use must fit into the refrigerator.

    • 3

Melt your chocolate bars or chips in a heavy saucepan over very low heat. Stir the chocolate until it begins to melt. Once it starts to melt, remove it from the heat and stir it until it is smooth.

    • 4

Dip your cookies into the chocolate. Dip half of the cookie or all around the edges. You can also dip one complete side of the cookie. Don't dip the entire cookie -- cookies that are partially dipped look more "gourmet."

    • 5

Place the cookies on the wax paper and sprinkle coconut or chopped nuts on the chocolate before it hardens.

    • 6

Place the cookie sheet or whatever tray you used in the refrigerator. Let the chocolate harden completely and serve.
