Things You'll Need:
- Knife
- Water
- Container or water picks
- Bleach
- Sugar
- Lemon or lime juice
-
Step 1
Cut the flower so that it can get enough water and food. Cut all of your stems at an angle with a sharp knife.
-
Step 2
Remove all of the foliage from the part of the stem that will be in the container. Wet foliage spoils easily and taints the water.
-
Step 3
Choose the water container. Water can be supplied to floral arrangements through various ways. You can choose a vase or container-like holder for traditional flower arrangements. For hanging cut flowers in containerless bouquets, you can use water picks. You simply fill these small vessels with water and then slip them onto the stem. They can be purchased at most craft and floral stores.

Step 4
Make a simple food supply for your plants that replaces water. Simply mix 1 teaspoon household bleach, 1 teaspoon sugar, 2 teaspoons lime or lemon juice and 1 quart lukewarm water. Pour it into your container and change it every couple of days.
