Step 1
Empty out your purse onto a table or counter and spread the contents around so you can see every item.
-
Step 2
Throw away all junk, such as empty wrappers and dirty tissues. Sort the remaining items of your purse by category; for example, receipts, makeup, office supplies, etc.
-
Step 3
It may seem like you need everything you stuff in your purse, but you probably don’t. Decide what you really need by determining how often each time is used. If you have used something less than twice in the last month and those times were not emergencies, then put it in a pile for things not going back into your purse.
-
Step 4
Once you have chosen which items will stay in your purse, decide how you will organize your purse. Examine the size and locations of the pockets and the overall size of the purse. Grab other things that will help organizing if your purse has few compartments. For example, if you stuff a lot of receipts in your purse, include a small envelope for keeping receipts. If you always need safety pins but lose them at the bottom of your purse, put them in a little Ziploc bag that extra buttons come in.
-
Step 5
Put everything back in your purse. In the largest, most accessible compartment, keep together things that you grab all the time (keys, phone, wallet). Keep other things together by their categories and put them in a specific place in your purse so you always know where to find them.

on 7/13/2009 Seriously, great article!! I know at bridal showers they sometimes play a game where you have to see how many items you have in your purse. Some people just cringe from embarrassment because their purse is so unorganized. I, of course, had a little teenager's purse at the time so only had a pen and some lip gloss.
