Step 1
Begin by planning your vegetable garden. Which vegetables do you want to grow? Where do you want to put the vegetable garden? Remember that certain plants need more space and time to grow than others.
-
Step 2
Either run out to the local florist and pick up some seeds or order the seeds you need online. Also make sure to purchase a watering can, gardening claw, and gardening gloves if you do not have them already.
-
Step 3
Begin the garden itself by turning over the soil in the area you chose to develop the vegetable garden. This can be done either with a tiller or a hand claw, although the tiller will make your job a lot easier. Add compost or fertilizer to the soil while you are turning it over to increase the nutrients in the soil.
-
Step 4
Plant the seeds according to the directions on the packet. Look for the season when the seeds should be planted (most likely spring), the distance apart the seeds need to be placed, and the maintenance requirements for the seeds.
-
Step 5
Give the seeds a good amount of water on the first day. Continue to water the seeds daily for the next few months until the first winter frost when the plants will inevitably die.
-
Step 6
Harvest the plants when they have fully developed. Make sure to follow the instructions on the seed packets on how to harvest the plants as some of them might continue to grow if you only cut off a certain part of the vegetable.
-
Step 7
Enjoy the glory of freshly harvested vegetables!
