TomTom is a device that is used for navigation. TomTom is used by travelers, bikers and businesses to easily find locations on a global map. The device is mounted on dashboards and its GPS service instructs people on where to turn from street to street to find their designated location. The company that manufactures TomTom provides updates for the device that users need to download to keep the software up to date.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Connect the TomTom to your computer using the cable supplied by the manufacturer. The TomTom "Home" window automatically opens.

  2. Step 2

Click the "Update my device" button. This step is only necessary if you are not automatically prompted to update the device. Normally, the "Home" window automatically prompts you for updates when they are available.

  3. Step 3

Select the application to download from the most recent update listed. After highlighting the update, click the "Download updates" button. At this point, the TomTom installs the update software.

  4. Step 4

    Click the "Done" button.

  5. Step 5

Disconnect the device safely by clicking the "Device" button and selecting "Disconnect Device." You can now remove the TomTom from the computer.
