Nothing is more satisfying then to crack open your own crab and enjoy the meat. However this can be tricky for beginners and potentially dangerous with the sharp shell edges. Follow this guide for access to that sometimes elusive crab meat.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set the crab down on a table with its legs facing up. On the bottom of the crab is a triangle type design that you will need to pull off with your fingers. Look at the image to make sure you have the right spot on the crab. Pull off the triangle shaped section, it should peel away without to much difficulty if the crabbed is cooked right

  2. Step 2

Next pull off the shell of the crab, this is done by inserting your fingers at the back of the crab between its shell and body. Now just pull it off.

  3. Step 3

Their will be some yellowish stuff in the crabs body, some people eat this but I suggest washing it out along with the other non-meat parts of the crab at this point. Twist off the legs, crack em open and begin enjoying your crab meat. Now you can clean and crack a cooked crab like a pro.
