Cooking crab is easy and relatively fast. But the rewards are oh so delicious. I hope you enjoy this brief but complete guide on cooking crab.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

In order to cook a live crab you need to bring a very large pot of water to boil. This pot needs to be large enough to submerge the entire crab. While the water is beginning to heat add in sea salt. You should use about 1 cup of sea salt for every 2 gallons of water being used.

  2. Step 2

After the water is brought to a boil place the live crab in the pot and put on the pots lid if available. Keep in mind that the boiling water could overflow just like with anything you boil so keep an eye on the pot. Depending on the size of the crab you should cook it anywhere from 12-18 minutes. For a crab with a 8" wide shell cook for around 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Don't be afraid to further season the water that you will cook the live crab in, just remember to keep the seasoning light in order to keep that rich crab flavor intact.
