Know when you have skin cancer. Look for irregularities on your skin. Notice if it looks like a rash that does not itch. If you are in doubt see your doctor immediately. Early detection of skin cancer and immediate surgery can keep the skin cancer from spreading into the rest of your body.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • sunscreen
  • shirt
  • towel
  • sunblock
  1. Step 1

Make sure that you apply sunblock to your skin about 1/2 hour before you leave the house. Have someone help you to smooth suntan lotion evenly on your back if you are wearing a backless dress or blouse. If you have no one to help get a long handled brush and spread the suntan lotion on areas you cannot easily reach.

  2. Step 2

Put a heavy amount of sunscreen on all areas that are going to be exposed to the sun. Do this especially if you are going to the beach. Even if it is a cloudy day,the sun hides behind the sun and can give you a sunburn and eventually skin cancer just as if the sun were shining.

  3. Step 3

Use the highest number of a sun blocker. If you have no way of applying the sunscreen lotion by yourself buy the brand that comes in a spray. It is always easier to spray all parts of your body, then to apply it with the hands. Sun burns might look beautiful on your face today, but when you get older it can easily turn into skin cancer and that is not very nice looking.

  4. Step 4

Remember that intense sun exposure when you were younger causes skin cancer when you are older. Water surfing in the sun's rays will also cause skin cancer. Protect your skin all day and all year even in cloudy days. The rays of the sun are harmful even in the shade or on cloudy days and can cause cancer of the skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • Even if you are in the water, you are not avoiding getting a sun burn. You should apply sun blocker and wear a tee shirt when swimming to avoid getting a real painful sunburn.
  • Pay a visit to a Dermatologist at least once a year for a checkup.
  • A nice sunburn today could become a not so nice skin cancer as you age.
  • Apply sunscreen at least a half an hour prior to going outdoors, even if it is walk to the corner drugstore.
