Things You'll Need:
- Credit Card
- Willingness to learn
-
Step 1
Determine the amount of money you need to invest in an Apple Mac computer. Prices of Macintosh computers have not decreased in the same way Windows computers have. It will require quite a chunk of change to buy this computer, but you will have it for a long time.
-
Step 2
Steer clear of the Apple store or even the larger chains unless it is just to gain knowledge and information. The Macbooks basically sport the same features unless you are looking at screen size and that is quite a bit more money for a few more inches of screen. You will pay up to a few hundred more at retail outlets if you buy there.
-
Step 3
Create space and decide between a desktop or a macbook apple computer. If you need portability or have limited space, purchase the macbook. See step 2 for tips. If you buy a Mac desktop model, be advised everything (including CD/DVD drive and motherboard) are all contained within a single unit inside the monitor. There is no tower.
-
Step 4
Decide which applications you run frequently. If you currently use Microsoft Office, for example, and do not want to buy the Mac version, simply download Open Office which will work with the files you already have quite seamlessly.
-
Step 5
Go online to the websites listed in the resource section of this article. While you are there you can request a catalog or sign up for the website email list so you can learn of special money saving offers.
-
Step 6
Read reviews on the apple mac computers. This will give you a clearer picture of what other apple users experiences have been and what you should buy.
-
Step 7
Go to craigslist or eBay to buy a slightly used or even a new Mac, but always seek a money back guarantee on your investment. It may be worth it to have a little older machine and update it with the latest software. You can also look in the newspaper ads.
