How to Treat a Sunburn With Vinegar

Sunburns can be very painful. It can feel like fire every time you move or your clothes touch your skin. But vinegar can provide great pain relief for sunburns. While there are over the counter products to treat sunburn vinegar is an easy home remedy to ease your sunburn pain!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Distilled White Vinegar
  • Clean Cloth
  • Large Bowl
  1. Step 1

    Determine what size of cloth you will need depending on the location of your sunburn. If you have a small sun burn a wash cloth may be sufficient. If you have a large area that is sunburned a towel may be a better size. Make sure you select a soft clean cloth. Rough fabric will make your sunburn more irritated.

  2. Step 2

    Place the cloth in a large bowl.

  3. Step 3

    Pour distilled white vinegar into the bowl. Use enough vinegar to saturate the cloth.

  4. Step 4

    Squeeze the excess vinegar out of the cloth and into the bowl.

  5. Step 5

    Apply the vinegar soaked cloth to the area of your body that is sunburned. Leave the cloth on the sunburn for about 20 minutes.

  6. Step 6

    The vinegar should provide pain relief and will also help remove some of the redness from your skin.

  7. Step 7

    Reapply the vinegar cloth as needed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you drink lots of water. Sunburns can make you dehydrated.
