Step 1
Think about how a tattoo would affect your job.
Many employers do not want their employees to have tattoos that can be seen by customers. Talk to your employer if you think they would have a problem with a visible tattoo. Otherwise, you could always opt for a tattoo in a more hidden place on your body. -
Step 2
Think about the future.
Some tattoos can look really funny on older people. So just because something looks cute on you at a young age, doesn't mean it will look so hot when you are older. Tattoos can also fade, or look odd on wrinkly skin. If you decide to get a tattoo, make sure its something that won't look odd on you when you are older. Remember that this is permanent! -
Step 3
Think about pregnancy.
If you are a woman and plan on getting pregnant in the future, make sure that if you get a tattoo, you don't place it somewhere that will stretch out. For instance, tattoos on the lower back or inner thigh are a bad idea for women who plan on getting pregnant. -
Step 4
Think about the impression you want to give people.
How would a tattoo affect your image? -
Step 5
Think about your personal level of pain tolerance.
Tattoos can be quite painful so make sure you are ready. It all depends on the amount of pain you can tolerate and what you are willing to go through to get a tattoo.
