If your saving an animated gif using Photo Shop you will follow these 3 steps.

Things You'll Need:

  • Animated Gif
  • Photoshop
  1. Step 1

    Try going to the top of the Photoshop application and clicking on File and then Save optimized as... then from there select the .gif extension Make sure to title the file a name, and hit save. It should save your gif files as an animation.

  2. Step 2

    To preview the animated gif open of the folder its contained in and right click on the gif and click on the open with and select your default browser.

  3. Step 3

    To make an animation properly you must have multiple layers. Basically an animated gif is like having a flip book and each time you flip the page the next page must have a portion of the last page or it will be blank. You can't can't make an animated gif of a guy bouncing a ball unless the guy and the ball appear in every slide. The easiest way to achieve smooth flowing animated gifs is to duplicate layers allowing you have accurate placement of each individual layer. That's how to save an animated gif on Photoshop.
