How to Determine if you need Deep Fitted Sheets for your Mattress

This article is designed to help you determine if you need deep fitted sheets also known as deep pocketed sheets. This is really easy to do using just a tape measure or a household ruler.

Things You'll Need:

• Tape Measure or Ruler
• Mattress

1. The first thing we need to do is locate a tape measure or ruler around our house.

2. 

   Once we have found that we need to go to our bedroom and measure from the bottom of the mattress to the top. Make sure not to measure the boxspring with this as we do not put sheets over our boxspring. If you have a big poofy mattress or pillowtop mattress lay a large flat book on top of your mattress and see where that touches your ruler so you get an accurate measurement.

3. 

   Now using the measurement follow these guidelines when purchasing your new sheets:
   Normal sheet set: 6-12 inches
   Deep Fitted (pocketed) sheet set: 12-20 inches

4. Note: Be sure to check the sheets you are buying for the size they will fit. These are standard measurements for normal and deep fitted, but each company can vary.
