Because there is so much news going on every day, it can be difficult and a little overwhelming to stay current and read the news. This article will give you some tips on how you can stay up to date and read the news.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The most obvious way to follow and read the news is by watching the newscasts on television or reading the newspaper, or listening to the radio. However, other popular mediums are rising and this may not be the most convenient or free way to read the news.

  2. Step 2

    Check out news websites.

Many news stations and newspapers have associated websites. Wall Street Journals website is www.online.wsj.com, Fox News' website is foxnews.com, etc. Also you can get a lot of the content from newspapers for free through their website.

  3. Step 3

Subscribe to email alerts or RSS feeds for breaking news.

Many popular news sites, like CNN, have "breaking news" alerts which can be sent directly to your email and update you of any breaking news.

  4. Step 4

Listen to podcasts or replays of the news shows. NPR's website has a lot of their shows available to the public for free to listen afterwards. This adds another level of convenience for people who enjoy listening to the show and might miss the show when it's on the air.

  5. Step 5

If all else fails, you can subscribe to social news mediums, like Twitter. Many of these social networking sites have tools and applications that can immediately alert you of news or updates on emails or mobile devices.
