Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Best thing to start with is an aquarium kit. They usually come in 10 gal. size and will have everything you need except the gravel, decorations, and of course fish. Rinse EVERYTHING with hot water (NO SOAP). Do not dry the inside of your aquarium or anything that goes inside. you can dry the outside.
-
Step 2
Pick a spot away from windows as sunlight will cause algae to grow. Once you pick your spot for new aquarium, put your air bubbler in( make sure you plug the air line from your air pump to your bubbler) and add gravel over this. Put in your decorations, stick your heater on the back of inside of tank below water level. Add filter, and then add your water from the tap.
-
Step 3
Once you get your tank filled plug in your filter, heater and air pump. Add your chemical. If you did not get chemical with your aquarium use Start Right. This makes your tap water safe immediately. You need to keep Start Right on hand for when you do partial water changes or add water to your tank. NEVER ADD WATER TO YOUR AQUARIUM WIHTOUT ADDING START RIGHT TO YOUR WATER FIRST!!!! Run aquarium for 24 hours before adding any fish.
