You don't need to buy expensive lemons to make fresh lemonade.

Lemonade is a refreshing, cool drink that has wide appeal. Fresh lemons make the best lemonade, but it is often expensive to buy the number of lemons needed to make beverages for a large crowd. Powdered lemonade mixes are easier on the pocket, but they are very sugary and full of preservatives. The most economical way to make fresh tasting lemonade is to simply buy a bottle of lemon juice and add it to your own sugar and water. This recipe can be easily doubled, tripled, or multiplied in any quantity that you wish.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 quart of water
  1. Step 1

Purchase the ingredients. Sugar is readily available and lemon juice can often be bought for less than two dollars a bottle. The large 16 or 20 ounce bottles will last a long time. You can use leftovers for cooking, baking or making salad dressing.

  2. Step 2

Pour the water into any pitcher that is large enough to hold it. The water should be room temperature because if it is too cold the sugar will take a long time to dissolve.

  3. Step 3

Add the lemon juice to the water and begin to stir.

  4. Step 4

While stirring, slowly add the sugar. Keep stirring until it is dissolved.

  5. Step 5

Taste the lemonade. If desired, adjust the flavor by adding more sugar or lemon until it fits your tastes.

  6. Step 6

Chill and serve. You can add ice to it, or you can refrigerate it for a couple of hours.
