Hammocks are Perfect for Relaxing in the Summer

Hammocks are great for lounging around outside and enjoying the weather. They provide the perfect way to enjoy a beautiful sunny summer day or a cool autumn afternoon. But because hammocks are exposed to the outside elements, they get dirty very easily. It also doesn't help that most hammocks are made of white material which shows dirt and grime very easily. Luckily washing a hammock is actually very easy and getting rid of dirt will actually make your hammock last longer. Here is how to wash a hammock.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hammock
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Color Safe Bleach
  • A Large Tub
  • Water
  • Laundry Stain Remover
  1. Step 1

With the hammock still hanging, thoroughly spray it with a laundry stain remover, such as Shout or other brand. To get underneath it, simply detach the hammock, flip it over and then reattach it. This allows you to easily spray both sides of the hammock.

  2. Step 2

In a large tub mix a solution of water, laundry detergent and color safe bleach. Children's pools or the bathtub works well for this.

  3. Step 3

Place the hammock in the solution and rub together briskly for approximately five minutes.

  4. Step 4

Allow the hammock to sit in the soap solution and soak for five to ten minutes more.

  5. Step 5

Rinse the hammock in clean water. You can do this by either draining and changing the water in the tub, or by rehanging the hammock and spraying thoroughly with a garden hose. Rinsing is complete when you no longer see soap bubbles on the fabric of the hammock.

  6. Step 6

Hang the hammock back up between the trees to dry.
