Step 1
Go to Yahoo’s or Google’s homepage and copy and paste the link you are searching for. The search will yield the original site and linked sites in the search results. Even though this search is the easiest to perform it will not show all of the websites linking to your site or articles.
-
Step 2
Go to the main page of Yahoo and type “link:” followed by your domain name. Leave no spaces between the colon and the domain name. This will bring you to Yahoo Site Explorer, which will show you all the “Inlinks” or backlinks to your website or article. Or go to Yahoo Site Explorer directly located at http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ and enter the URL in the search bar.
-
Step 3
Go to the Google homepage and type “link:” hit the spacebar, copy and paste your domain name. You must include a space between the colon and URL otherwise the search will not yield any results. This will bring up a listing of the original site and any sites that include backlinks to the original site.
-
Step 4
Go to Google Webmaster Central at http://www.google.com/webmasters/ or click the Resource link below. Create an account or log in using your Google email account. Add your URL after you log in, and Google Webmaster will retrieve your “Links Data” or backlink information. However, you will have to wait for the results because Google goes through a verification process to confirm ownership of the site.
