Get Fit in 5 Easy Steps

Many people say they want to get in shape, but what they don't realize is that fitness is about changing everything in your life, from the amount of sleep you get at night to your attitude in the morning. That sounds like a lot of stuff, but you can make the changes if you just make small easy adjustments to your lifestyle.

Things You'll Need:

  • Will power
  1. Step 1

The first thing you want to do is to start small. So many people mess up their entire plan to lose weight by making huge, dramatic changes in food and activities that they can not keep up with. Here's a hint why that does not work, if you could handle such a major changes in life style, you would already be doing it.

Keep it simple. Make small changes in your lifestyle like taking the stairs instead of the elevator or choosing a turkey sandwich over a hamburger for lunch. Getting fit does not have to start in a gym, the easiest way to start getting fit is by making simple, healthy food and life choices.

  2. Step 2

The next thing you want to do is to find something you like to do. Losing weight is much easier if you find an activity that you would like to get better at like dancing or tennis. Having an activity that involves something you would like to accomplish, like staying under par in golf, or you would rather be doing anyway, like riding a bike, will make those extra pounds fall right off.

Having an activity you like helps you look forward to doing it, which will keep you in shape.

  3. Step 3

Now its time to make some changes in your diet. The biggest part of eating healthy is having control and certainty over what you eat. Eating health is also about being able to choose the foods you want to eat that will give you the best results.

  4. Step 4

Again I can not say it enough, simplify, simplify, simplify. If you plan to get into an exercise routine you do not need lots of fancy equipment or expensive gear. Use stuff you have easy access to like a gallon of water for your weight.

If you do plan on joining a gym, pick one close to where you live or work. You are more likely to make going to the gym a habit if it is close and easy to get to rather than having to drive across town just because that gym has more machines.

  5. Step 5

Finally what ever you plan of doing, make it part of your routine. Exercising and eating healthy on a regular basis will make them into habits just like sitting on the couch eating donuts. Once you have practiced these good habits for a while you will not want to go back to the way things were, but the hardest part is to get started and stick with it.

Once you take that first step then you can begin making progress.
