Learn how to customize your mac Dock without downloading anything. Use this if you want to change OS X to be yours. The 2D dock looks great and works just as well.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer with Mac OS X
  1. Step 1
    Terminal
    Terminal

    The first step is to open up the application called "terminal". This will bring up a Unix command line similar to Microsoft's DOS. To start the application simply search for it in spotlight.

  2. Step 2

    After that simply copy and paste this code, "$ defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES"

  3. Step 3
    Your dock remains the same.
    Your dock remains the same.

    Press Enter and you will notice that nothing has happened. It is fine, just keep going.

  4. Step 4

    Next we need to refresh the dock so you can see the changes. Paste this code into the field, "killall Dock". Press Enter.

  5. Step 5
    Your new 2d dock.
    Your new 2d dock.

    The dock should disappear for a second and then reappear with a brand new look and finish. There are many ways to make the dock 2D, this is just one of them.

Tips & Warnings
  • If this doesn't work try again.
  • Pay attention to capital letters in terminal.
