Things You'll Need:
- Towel
- Rag, sponge, pad or paper towels
- Dish soap
- Cleaning sprays
- Razor blade
- Cooktop cleaning cream
- Magic Stainless Steel Spray
-
Step 1
Wipe up spills as soon as they happen with a clean dry towel. According to the Jenn-Air website, for glass top cooking surfaces, you should do this even if it is hot since it will be harder to clean up later. Be careful not to get burned.
-
Step 2
Use a cooktop cleaner once it is cool. You can also use dishwashing detergent and water or just a baking soda paste (made with water).
-
Step 3
Apply the cleaner to a sponge, cloth or paper towel. For more stubborn stains, you can use a non-abrasive or "scratchless" pad.
-
Step 4
Rub the soiled areas until clean. Rinse well, especially if you used the baking soda paste as that can leave a residue.
-
Step 5
Use a razor blade for burned on and crusty stains that will not come off using the previous methods. Jenn-Air states to hold it at a 30-degree angle to carefully remove the stain.
-
Step 1
Use a plastic scouring pad to clean removable burner caps, sealed gas burners and burner grates with warm, soapy water. Rinse with a clean wet rag. Do not get water in the center of the burner or near the igniter. For the removable burner caps and burner grates, you can also use Cooktop Cleaning Creme (Part 20000001) by applying it with a sponge. You can let it set in for up to 30 minutes for more stubborn stains before scrubbing them clean. Rinse thoroughly.
-
Step 2
Clean porcelain burner pans with a damp cloth once they are cool. You can also use a grease-removing cleaner such as 409 to remove grease. Immediately wipe up any acidy or sugary spills.
-
Step 3
Clean the knobs by removing them first and then cleaning in warm soapy water. Be sure they are dry before placing them back on your cooktop.
-
Step 4
Clean your griddle once it has cooled. Remove it from the cooktop and clean in hot soapy water. Do not get the terminal plug in the water. Use a plastic pad to clean. Jenn-Air states to use those products that are safe for non-stick surfaces. To clean the griddle basin pan, wipe it clean with soap and water using a cloth or paper towel. You can also use a cleaner such as 409.
-
Step 5
Clean the stainless steel cooktop with soapy water, equal parts of white vinegar and water, or a glass cleaner. For more stubborn stains, you can use a product such as Smart Cleanser, Bon Ami or Soft Scrub. Use a nylon-scrubbing pad such as ScotchBrite to scrub away the stain. Always scrub in the direction of the grain. Rinse with a clean rag and dry. Follow up with a Stainless Steel Magic Spray (Part 20000008) to restore the luster and shine of the stainless steel.
