The Advanced SCSI Programming Interface (ASPI) allows communication between a computer's Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) adapter and SCSI peripherals such as drives and system cards. Wnaspi32.dll is a Dynamic Link Library file required by the driver for the ASPI. If this .dll file is corrupted or missing, it can cause system instability and render some SCSI devices temporarily unreadable. A fresh install of this file can restore system stability and functionality.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PC
  • Internet access
  • wnaspi32.dll
  1. Step 1

Open the computer's Web browser and navigate to a page that offers a working version of wnaspi32.dll for download. A link to one of these locations is in the Resources section below.

  2. Step 2

Click the download link and follow the on-screen prompts to download the file. When asked what you would like to do with the file, click "Save File."

  3. Step 3

Open the file by double clicking it. It will open in your computer's default program for opening .zip files. Click the "Unzip" or "Extract" button and extract the file to the computer's desktop.

  4. Step 4

Double-click the "My Computer" icon, then double-click the "C:" icon to start browsing through the hard drive. If you're using 32-bit XP or Vista, browse to "C:\Windows\System32." If you're using 64-bit XP or Vista, browse to "C:\Windows\SysWOW64." In Windows 2000 or NT, browse to "C:\WINNT\System32." Windows ME, 95 and 98 users should browse to "C:\Windows\System." This is the system folder for Windows, where .dll files are stored.

  5. Step 5

Drag and drop the wnaspi32.dll file from the desktop into the system folder. If a version of this file already exists in the folder, you'll see a dialog box asking if you would like to replace the existing file with the new file. Click "Yes" if this happens.

  6. Step 6

    Reboot your computer.
