Step 1
Keratin also known as Brazil Keratin Treatment or Brazilian Hair Straightening Treatment. Keratin hair straightening treatments greatly reduce frizz and curls. This process is usually performed in salons and is permanent or at least until your hair grows out! Because of the difficulty involved with this process, the best place to get this done is at a salon that does this often. Trust me, you do not want to be a guinea pig when it comes to your hair. With this process, it is still possible to curl your hair. Your hair should look and feel healthy and shiny if done correctly.
This product does contain formaldehyde so if you are allergic or sensitive to formaldehyde, be sure not to use this product.
Formaldehyde is a dangerous chemical that is not eco-friendly. -
Step 2
Japanese Hair Straightening is a chemical straightener that must be done by a professional. Chemicals are used to permanently straighten your hair in combination with a flat iron and blow dryer. Your hair may look dry and processed with this treatment but many people choose to use this option because of its permanence and pin straight look. This process can take as long as 8 hours and is very expensive. The prices vary widely depending on the salon and state.
Formaldehyde is also used with this process. -
Step 3
Ceramic Flat Iron is a great way to straighten your hair every day. A ceramic flat iron is the best flat iron for your hair because metal flat irons may scorch your hair. Ceramic flat irons are more expensive than metal flat irons but if you plan to straighten your hair every day with a flat iron, ceramic flat irons are the best.
Straightening hair with a flat iron will only last until your next shampoo or about 2 days depending on the type of hair you have.
Flat irons work well with all types of hair but will take more time to straighten long hair than short hair. Very curly hair may take longer than wavy hair and thick hair will take longer than thin hair. -
Step 4
A very large round brush is useful in straightening hair. Basically you use a large round brush in combination with a hairdryer to straighten your hair. Once you get the hang of it, it is quite easy to do. While you will probably never get pin straight hair this way to last all day long, it is a very affordable alternative to the other options listed for hair straightening.
