Vitamin D is beneficial to everyone for many health reasons including cancer prevention, increased fertility, healthy bones and healthy teeth.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cancer Prevention: Scientists are now convinced that Vitamin D greatly reduces your risk for breast cancer, colon cancer and other types of cancer. Vitamin D promotes healthy cells and prevents the production of blood vessels that feed tumors.

Many doctors and scientists believe that just 15 minutes in the sun without sunscreen provides and adequate amount of vitamin D. That beings said, be smart about your sun exposure. Unprotected sun exposures is linked to an increased risk of skin cancer.

  2. Step 2

Infertility: Vitamin D deficiency is sometimes to blame in infertility in both men and women.

Many women who are experiencing infertility due to a short menstrual cycle find that increasing vitamin D actually lengthens their menstrual cycle increasing chances of conception.

Male infertility is very often caused by a lack of Vitamin D. Vitamin D promotes healthy sperm which increases chances of conception.

  3. Step 3

Healthy Bones and Teeth: Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium throughout the body which promotes strong bones and teeth. A vitamin D deficiency may cause bone fractures and dental cavities.

  • Too much Vitamin D may cause kidney stones and other serious health conditions so watch your Vitamin D intake carefully. Discuss making any vitamin changes with your doctor.

on 8/28/2009 I had a severe deficiency in Vit. D and am now on supplements every day. Not having enough vitamin D makes the body feel run down and awful, and yes, it did have a big negative impact on my teeth! If you are feeling run down and awful, it's a good idea to get blood work done. I had problems with Vit. D and C. and I would have never thought so, with the amounts of fruits and veggies I eat. Thanks for this article. Everyone should know what their body needs and why. :)
