   To get your free hotel room, spend at least a day doing a good deed helping out a charitable organization. It has to be a real non-profit, and you have to spend at least eight hours helping out.

2. **Get It In Writing**
   
   The hotel will want to see confirmation of your activity. Make sure the group you volunteered with documents your community service. A letter on the group's official stationery will do fine.

3. **Visit GiveadayGetanight.com**
   
   The Give a Day, Get a Night program includes hotels around the country. In a nutshell, they are offering a free night's stay in exchange for the day of community service that you provided. Alternatively, they offer a 50% discount on your hotel stay. The offer varies a bit from one hotel to the next, and there are some fine-print details, such as black-out dates, and advanced reservation requirements.
