Traffic jams...we all hate them. Yet we always manage to get somehow caught in traffic, try as we might. There are some ways to reduce your chances of getting stuck in traffic. This article will show you how.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

(Travel late at night.) The later you travel, the less traffic you will encounter. Shoot for about midnight and later to avoid traffic.

  2. Step 2

(Travel early in the morning.) Traveling very early in the morning is another way to avoid getting caught in traffic. People don't like to travel early if they have to, so use that fact to your advantage.

  3. Step 3

(Avoid traveling during rush hour.) Rush hour is when the most traffic is on the road. Everyone is either going to or coming from work. If you can, avoid traveling during these peak hours.

  4. Step 4

(Learn shortcuts / alternate routes) The most populated roads logically have the most traffic. Learn how to take alternate routes to avoid the bulk of everyday traffic.

  5. Step 5

(Listen to traffic broadcast on the radio.) Another good way to avoid traffic jams is to listen to traffic alerts on the radio. That way, you can take different routes and avoid congestion. Check your local radio listings.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't rubberneck when there's an accident or a police car on the shoulder! This always causes traffic to congest, and if people would just keep moving and mind their business their would be less traffic hiccups.
