Wash Hair Brushes

Clean hair brushes are important for good hygiene. Dirt and grime that builds up in your hair brushes can get back into your hair. Wash hair brushes and combs 15 minutes a week to insure that this doesn’t happen.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hair brushes and combs
  • 1/4 cup ammonia
  • 1 cup warm water
  1. Step 1

Before you take a shower, clean the hair out of your brushes and combs. The best way to do this is to take a comb and run it through the bristles of the brush.

  2. Step 2

Combine 1/4 cup ammonia with 1 cup warm water.

  3. Step 3

Soak the brushes and combs in the ammonia solution for 15 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Rinse the brushes and combs under clean water and lay on a towel to dry.

  5. Step 5

Another way to clean your hair brushes is to use a dab of shampoo and scrub it into the bristles of the brush. Soak the brushes in warm water for 15 minutes. Rinse under clean water and lay on a towel to dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean your brushes and combs at least once a week.
  • Only use the ammonia in a well ventilated area and avoid contact with skin.
