Washing a cast iron pot isn't very hard. All that you need is a little elbow grease. You will learn to clean your cast iron pots and pans so they will be ready the next time you use them. Make sure to use a quality cleaner and cooking spray.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • SOS Pad
  • Dish washing liquid
  • water
  • wire brush
  • dry clean towel
  • spray on cooking oil
  1. Step 1

Wet the pot or pan with water. (if it is really rusty then scrape the rust with a wire brush first, or if it is caked up with food then scrape with a spatula before wetting with water.)

  2. Step 2

Wet the sos pad thoroughly with water and scrub the pot all over until there isn't any more rust.

  3. Step 3

    Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

  4. Step 4

Wash again with wash cloth and dish washing liquid. Wash thoroughly, this is a must. Make sure to get all of the cleaning material left from the sos pad.

  5. Step 5

Dry thoroughly with towel. If the pot isnt 100% dry then the rust will show up again.

  6. Step 6

After you dry then use a spray on cooking oil like Pam to further prevent rust.

Tips & Warnings
  • I always spray the whole pot with pam cooking spray and wipe it in with a towel. There isn't any other tips really for this is a really easy task.
  • wear dish washing gloves when you use a sos pad. The steel wool can stab into your fingers. Do not get anything in your eyes. Do not leave the pots and pans in water for they will rust.
